MSU’S general real estate practice involves the representation of business entities, trusts and individuals in a wide range of real estate matters. These matters include assisting with the purchase and sale of real property, and with the leasing of residential and commercial property. MSU’s attorneys are experienced with drafting and negotiating complex documents, examining and certifying title to real estate and issuing title insurance policies.  MSU’s attorney’s handle title clearing matters for our clients including national title insurance companies.

MSU provides a full range of representation to support the financing goals of our clients. MSU handles sophisticated commercial lending transactions for lenders and borrowers. In addition, MSU represents homeowners and lenders (including private lenders) in residential mortgage transactions. The firm is an agent for First American Title Insurance Company as well as Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company and frequently works with other major national title insurance companies.

MSU attorneys work closely with professional planners, engineers, architects and wetlands scientists in the pursuit of real estate development permits and approvals.  We frequently appear before reviewing agencies and work closely with municipal officials behind the scenes to ease the burdens associated with land use in New England.  We are often called upon by our clients to assist in the due diligence analysis that typically occurs as our clients analyze the development opportunities of particular properties.  In addition, we represent property owners with the protection of their property rights as those rights are affected by nearby development.

MSU’s residential and commercial landlord-tenant practice involves the representation of owners and managers of real estate.  The firm provides advice on day-to-day operational matters, drafts leases, subleases, and related documentation, and represents property owners in evictions.  MSU’s attorneys also advise tenants with respect to the unique issues that they may encounter.
